We don’t want to jinx it, but we think it might be safe to say that spring has finally sprung. Chicagoans are coming out of hibernation en masse to enjoy the beautiful weather in our beautiful city. If you’re looking for inspiration on where to go and what to do over the next week, check out our curated list of favorites.

Heroes & Villians Fan Fest

April 19-21 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center

For pop culture geeks, springtime in Chicago is a magical place. In the last month, we’ve had C2E2 and the Star Wars Celebration. But wait, there’s more – this weekend you can take part in a special celebration dedicated to the characters we love and love to hate from comic-inspired movies and television. In addition to famous guests, visitors will also be able to train in superhero skills themselves.

Brunch Bites

April 20 in River North

Did someone say super brunch? Um yes, count us in. This traveling brunch event will take you to eight different River North restaurants for a food and drink sample from each spot. You’ll have four hours to leisurely make your way to all the restaurants in whatever order you choose.

Bunny Rock

April 20 at Montrose Harbor

Combine all your weekend activities into one fun event this weekend with a 5K run that also includes an Easter egg hunt, live 80s music, a petting zoo and the big bunny himself. And if the weather cooperates, you couldn’t pick a better place to enjoy a lovely spring Saturday.

Sound of Silent Film Festival

April 20 at Davis Theatre

Experience film and music in a whole new way at this unusual film festival. You’ll watch modern, silent films from around the world. But what you’ll be hearing is a meticulously scored soundtrack played live.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt

April 21 at Longman & Eagle

No kids as an excuse to hunt for candy-filled eggs? No problem. This popular pub has you covered with an egg hunt that’s only for grownups. Go it alone or team up with a partner to hunt for eggs hidden around Logan Square. Those who find the most will win special prizes, but everyone will get to enjoy the after-party back at the pub.

Easter Specials at Chicago Restaurants

April 21 at Various Locations

If you want an Easter feast without doing all the work that goes into preparing said feast, let one of Chicago’s many amazing restaurants do the work for you. There are over 100 local eateries offering special holiday menus. Keep in mind that you may want to make a reservation for popular spots.

Wine Stroll

April 25 in Lincoln Square

After work this Thursday, head up to the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood neighborhoods for some pre-weekend fun. Choose one of six routes that all stop at a variety of local businesses for wine samples and delicious hors d’oeuvres. You just may find a new wine or business that becomes a favorite.

Chicago Humanities Festival

April 25 – May 21 at Various Locations

If you have a deep love of learning, exploring new ideas and debating those ideas, then this intellectual event is right up your alley. It brings together some of the biggest thought leaders for talks, workshops, discussions and more. The annual event always draws a diverse mix of famous guests but some of the highlights this year include Stacy Abrams, Melinda Gates, Michael Pollan, Alex Kotlowitz and Jennifer Egan.
