There may still be snow in the forecast, but spring is most definitely in the air. And March just sounds and feels a little better than February, doesn’t it?
Embrace the start of warmer days (soon) by getting out of the house to celebrate classic rock & roll, Chicago’s birthday or your deep love of pork at our hand-picked Chicago events for the week ahead.
March 1 at United Center
When an iconic band like Fleetwood Mac comes to your town, you go. After all, this classic group is known for many things, but staying together isn’t one of them. If you’re a superfan or have never seen them live, now is the time since you never know when you might have another opportunity.
March 2 at Cobra Lounge
If you’ve never seen this uniquely Chicago event go down, you’re missing out. Put simply, it’s a shopping cart race, bar crawl and charity fundraiser all rolled into one crazy party traveling the streets of Ukrainian Village and Wicker Park en masse. Teams decorate a standard shopping cart and don costumes as they race from bar to bar. The catch? The cart has to be full of at least 69 pounds of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Greater Chicago food depository. Spectators welcome.
March 2 at Chicago Cultural Center
Can’t make it to the Big Easy for carnival season this year? You can still get in the Mardi Gras spirit at this classy shindig in a gorgeous venue. As with the authentic Mardi Gras balls in New Orleans, guests are encouraged to dress up in formalwear and masks. Your ticket price includes jambalaya, red beans and rice, beer, wine & soft drinks.
March 3 at North Avenue Beach
Still sad that you missed the last group insanity of jumping into Lake Michigan in the winter? Not to fear – you’ll have another opportunity this weekend! Costumes are encouraged and the best ones will be rewarded. Participants are required to raise at least $200 with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Chicago.
March 3 at Morgan Manufacturing
5 chefs, 5 pigs, 5 winemakers. That’s how this pork-lovers event is billed… and really, what more do you need to know? Your ticket includes access to an open bar and 1500 pounds of expertly cooked pork and side dishes.
March 4 at Chicago History Museum
She doesn’t look a day over 100, but Chicago is actually turning 182 this weekend! To celebrate the anniversary of the official incorporation of our city, Illinois residents get free admission to the Chicago History Museum for a family-friendly event with live music, special remarks and fun activities for all.
March 2 at Old Crow
March 2 at Metro Chicago
