Spring has sprung, Chicago! It may not be cocktails on the sidewalk weather just yet, but you can feel a new energy in the air. And that energy is telling us to go to a swing-era jazz party, indulge our true crime obsession and learn more about craft coffee… among other things.

March 29 at Hyatt Regency
Windy City whisky lovers will come together to celebrate the timeless spirit at this annual event put on by the Whisky Advocate magazine. With over 400 varieties from around the world, visitors of all tastes are sure to find something special that suits their pallet. Your ticket will get you a tasting pass, souvenir glass and access to a variety of educational seminars.
March 30 – April 6
If you ever feel lost when it comes to personal finance topics, this week-long event series is perfect for you. Over the course of the week, there will be programming tailored to all income levels and demographics, so everyone is truly welcome. There will be education on topics ranging from investing for retirement to student loan repayment.
April 4 at the International Museum of Surgical Science
For those born into the wrong era, here’s a chance to take a step back in time. Guests are encouraged to don vintage looks as they swing to live, prohibition era jazz music in a beautiful, lakeside mansion turned museum. Your ticket also includes free Lagunitas beer all evening. So, throw on your best flapper dress or zoot suit and grab your best gal or guy to celebrate the arrival of spring in style.
March 26 – 31 at Thalia Hall
It’s wise to keep all things balanced, right? That must be the thinking behind this celebration of craft coffee and beer. This is truly an event series for beer and coffee geeks who get excited about the processes, ingredients and techniques used in creating the well-loved beverages. There’s always been a dark fascination with true crime stories, but it’s really exploded in the last few years with odcasts, films and tv series that explore some of the more gruesome stories of real criminals. On the coattails of that surge in interest is this special event, which features expert speakers discussing the ins and outs of real cases.
March 30 at The Little Beet Table
Spring is a great time to recommit to all the healthy eating resolutions you made back in January. And fortunately, you can just do that while enjoying a delicious, chef-prepared brunch and cocktails. The food will be gluten-free, and the cocktails will be vegetable-based, so no guilt necessary. You’ll also leave with some helpful tips to help you recreate healthy, delicious meals at home.
March 31 at SPIN Chicago
This is the first event in a new monthly series at Chicago’s premier ping pong club. Starting on March 31, SPIN will host a monthly kid’s day. It’s totally free to attend and jump into open play from 12 to 5pm for kids under 10. If your kiddos want to take it to the next level, you can also sign them up for paid lessons from pros during the event. In addition to ping pong, there will be giant Jenga and Connect 4 as well as kid-friendly food specials.
