March 8 in Edgewater
We love supporting women-owned businesses every day of the year, but it’s especially important on International Women’s Day. This on-foot crawl will take you along Broadway to visit select businesses that are owned by women, where there will be drink samples, food tastings, and other interactive fun.
March 9-10 at Stephen M. Bailey Auditorium – Plumbers Hall
If you were obsessed with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a kid, you’ll love this sweet celebration with a grown-up twist. You’ll get to peruse (and sample) the delicious offerings of over 50 vendors and pick out your favorites to bring home as special gifts for friends… or yourself.
March 9-19 at Rickshaw Republic
If you watched the hit movie, Crazy Rich Asians and left with a wicked craving for amazing Singapore street food, then you’ll be over the moon about this special culinary pop-up. The Indonesian restaurant was inspired to create a prix-fixe menu featuring elevated versions of some of the dishes you see in the movie. It will only be served on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons for two weekends though, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance.
March 8 at Theatre on The Lake
Billed as Chicago’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party, this special event has been put on by the Young Irish Fellowship Club for the last 43 years. If you’re looking for a more authentic, high-brow way to celebrate the holiday, this is it. There will be live Irish music and dancing, beer, wine and light bites in a beautiful venue with stunning views of the lake and city.
March 9 at Field Museum
If it feels like there’s a beer festival in Chicago just about every weekend, you’re not too far off. Between being a beer-loving city and the meteoric rise in craft beer, there’s always a reason to celebrate a good brew. This is one of the more established ones though, as you can probably figure from the venue. Visitors will get to enjoy samples from over 70 breweries, new seasonal beers for spring, live music, food and access to some of the museum’s exhibits.
March 10 at Emporium Logan Square
March 10 at Morgan MFG
March 6-10 at Auditorium Theatre
March 9 at Arlington International Race Course
