The Best Chicago Events for the Week of February 15, 2019

Is February over yet? That’s often the feeling Chicagoans get this time of year as we count the days until spring. And while we still have to wait a little longer to put away the parkas, our great city makes up for it with a wealth of culinary and cultural delights.

Check out our hand-picked events for the week ahead.

Cupid’s Undie Run

February 16 at Slugger’s

If you’ve ever secretly dreamed of running down a busy Chicago street in your undies, this charity run is totally for you! The event benefits research for neurofibromatosis, a genetic tumor that affects one in 3,000 births. It involves just a mile-long run in your skivvies and then a fun party. And if you’re too modest (or freezing) to strip down to your underwear, you’re still welcome to participate and are encouraged to wear a fun costume.

Savor Lincoln Park

February 20 at Theater on the Lake

Good news, friends – you don’t have to wait until summer to chow down at a good ol’ Chicago food festival. This indoor neighborhood food fest is put on by the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce and features yummy eats from spots like Insomnia Cookies, Broken English Taco Pub, Chez Moi and Oyster Bah. Between courses, don’t forget to throw down a few bids at the silent auction and get your grin on in a vintage photo booth.

Barrel Night

February 21 at Lacuna Art Lofts

This is the fourth annual celebration of whiskey and spirits hosted by our friends at Chicago Magazine. Attendees will have the chance to rub elbows with master distillers, sample a huge variety of spirits from 28 different distilleries and snack on gourmet eats. And when you need a little break from the imbibing, you’ll be able to hop on a SpiN ping pong table, try your hand at giant Jenga or toss bags.

Tickled Pink Chicago

February 22 at Rockwell on The River

Here’s another opportunity to help a worthy cause and have fun doing it. This annual event was started to honor a vibrant young Chicago woman who lost her life to breast cancer at the age of 35. Her cousin and friends decided to honor her by throwing a fun party that also raises money for Bright Pink, an organization that champions early detection. This shindig is just what the doctor ordered in dreary February – chef stations from Chicago’s top restaurants, live bands, dancing, an open bar, raffles and more.

Midwinter Music Festival

The Art Institute of Chicago

Pitchfork has really upped their cool factor by throwing a winter music festival that takes place in the Art Institute of all places. And the very coolest thing about it is that musical acts will be performing all over the museum among the world-famous masterpieces. In fact, the majority of the galleries will be open during the festival, and visitors will be free to roam around and appreciate art with their eyes as well as their ears. Keep in mind though, you’ll have to purchase additional tickets to some of the festival’s special performances.
