Kenilworth is peaceful village 15 miles North of Downtown Chicago. One of the newest of the nine suburban North Shore communities bordering Lake Michigan, Kenilworth is the only one developed as a planned community.
The properties in Kenilworth are known to be luxurious single-family homes that range in style from Victorian mansions to distinguished single-family homes.Famous people have called Kenilworth home including: Christopher George Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy, and billionaire co-owner of Reyes Holdings Inc, Jude Reyes.
Kenilworth has it’s share of natural beauty. The Kenilworth Beach on Lake Michigan is divided into a sailing beach and a bathing beach. The Ware Garden is a public courtyard on the East Side where many residents walk their dogs. The first land for the Village was purchased by Joseph Sears in 1889. He purchased 223.6 acres for the price of $150,300. Joseph Sears visioned a community of close knit families in a beautiful country setting near the convenience of the city.
That definitely holds true today, residents enjoy the serene atmosphere of this village. Kenilworth has its own public school district, with its only school being Joseph Sears School, named after the founder of the village.
The district is School District 38 in Cook County, and is the fifth most expensive K-8 district in the state of Illinois in per-student spending Since this is a primary residential area,residents drive further up north to places like Highland Park for entertainment, shopping, and dining out. This cozy and intimate village highlights the simplicity of life.
